Level Football title for the fifth time defeating defending champion Papum Pare 3-

on offensive plays. But neither team was successful in finding the breakthrough until

The winner took away cash prize of Rs.50,000 along with the trophy while the runners up team was given Rs.30,000 along with a trophy. Individual winners were also given cash prizes of Rs.5000 each.

Addressing a packed stadium on the final day of the 11th Tadar Tang Memorial State Level Football Championship at Naharlagun today, Tuki said “My government has committed to develop sports infrastructure in every district, for which, Rs. 200 crore has already been earmarked under SPA .”
Informing about adoption of a pragmatic sports policy by his government, Tuki said that the main vision of the policy is to make Arunachal a leading state in sports arena through target oriented action plans for diverse activities, including coaching, training, counseling and participation at various levels of tournaments and championships of all sports disciplines.
The policy also provides for lucrative incentives to outstanding sportspersons, job reservation and maximum opportunities and benefits to indigenous youths.
“While a pension scheme for welfare of distressed sports persons has been incorporated
in the Policy, special focus is also laid on promotion of sports amongst girls and

On receiving the report, a police team led by SI M Geyi and SI N Lali trailed behind and arrested three of them from Transport Colony, Polo Colony around 9.15 am while search operation involving the CRPF and IRBn personnel was launched to apprehend the two absconding accused, who managed to disappear through river route.
A case was registered and investigation launched, while the SP, SDPOs NC Dutta (Naharlagun) and Taru Gusar (Itanagar) joined the probe.
The SP had sounded a red alert immediately, sealed the Capital Complex and launched massive search operation by setting up nakas at various vulnerable points. He appreciated Geyi and Lali for their prompt action.

APSCW team organizes legal awareness camps in two districts
ITANAGAR, Oct 03: A team of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW)
headed by its chairperson Gumri Ringu organized legal awareness camps on Domestic
violence Act-
While addressing the awareness camp at Daporijo on Sept 25, Gumri Ringu appealed the District Administrations to open a District Grievances Cell, in every District HQ, so that justice could be delivered to the aggrieved girl / women. Further, she requested for creation of Juvenile Justice Board (JBB) at District level.
The APSCW team organized legal awareness camps at Taliha on Sept 26, at Nacho on Sept 27, at Dumporijo on Sept 28.
The legal awareness tour came to an end with awareness camp organized at Baririjo on Sept 29. Govt officials, panchayat leaders, gaon burahs and gao buris and general public were present in all the awareness camps conducted in these wo districts.
State level training cum workshop on integrated watershed management programme
ITANAGAR, Oct 03: A State Level Training cum Workshop on Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), the flagship programme of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, began at SIRD Conference Hall, here today.
Delegates of the Workshop include Project Directors of DRDAs, designated officers of Watershed Cell cum Data Centre (WCDC) including Assistant Project Officers, Technical Assistants (IWDP) etc. and officers and officials of State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA) at the Department of Rural Development.
Speaking on the occasion, M. Ronya Joint Director RE, Department of Rural Development Government of Arunachal Pradesh, stressed on the need for proper capacity building of all stakeholders. He informed that under IWMP a specific allocation is there of 5 percent of project cost for Institution Building and Capacity Building, which is to be utilised in three specific installments as per the three phases of programme implementation. In addition to this allocation, Govt of India has provided funds to SIRD Arunachal Pradesh for the purpose of conduction of training programmes in coordination with SLNA Arunachal Pradesh, highlighting the seriousness that Department of Land Resources, MoRD gives to training and capacity building interventions. M. Ronya also appreciated the timely intervention of SIRD in view of clarifications required for Livelihoods for landless asset less and Production system and Micro Enterprises component under IWMP. He also stressed on the need for timely and proper updation of MIS under IWMP, especially in view of the fact that subsequent release of funds by Govt of India shall be subject to proper updation of MIS. He also emphasized on the need for timely release of State Matching share for the projects, which is being regarded as an important criteria for release of subsequent release of central share of funds.
Stressing on the important issues being pursued by Department of Rural Development Government of Arunachal Pradesh, M. Ronya asked for early submission of GP wise village list, Annual Plans and MPRs which are to be submitted by 30th of every month.

Arogya – state level health fair begins at Ziro

Speaking on the occasion Pavitro said “Lower Subansiri district is a store house of medicinal herbal plants. This opportunity should be used to learn and identify more of these herbs. Large scale plantation of medicinal herbs should be encouraged and its commercial viability be studied.” Further, exhorting the public to actively participate in the fair he informed that this fair will not only project the requirements of modern day medical treatment with collaboration of Ayurveda but also be a platform for horizontal and vertical discussion of Ayurveda treatment.
The visitors can avail the free consultations and free medicines during the fair, he informed. Arogya Nidhi, a health program for BPL family will provide a financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh for treatments and operations. This provision can be extended to any hospitals empanelled with the health department, he said and added that the central government has sponsored 1.5 crore under this scheme.
While emphasizing on adapting traditional method of treatment, Padi Richo, Parliamentary Secretary, UD &LM said that “ Ziro Valley can become a medical tourism hub due the presence of a large number of medicinal plants. Patients coming in for treatment can enjoy the natural beauty of the valley and relax in its mild weather”.
He also said that one should also be aware of the side effects of the allopathic medicines and try to inculcate a healthy living habit.

Awareness rally on women’s rights

ROING, Oct 03: On Tuesday, women from across the Lower Dibang Valley district took part in a rally on women’s rights organized by Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department, Roing.
“The rally, which coincided with the 143rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, was organized to spark awareness on women’s rights, especially on growing issue of domestic violence with the hope that more and more women will get involved,” said Nelo Umbrey, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Roing.
Leading the rally, Umbrey explained how domestic violence has negative impact on a family and on the entire community. To stop the violence against women, they had to be sensitized first and made aware to fight for their rights, she said.
The rally started from CDPO office located near helipad, and continued towards the administrative office building covering major parts of the town. Joined by representatives of various women’s organization and self help groups, the rally raised slogans condemning incidents of rising violence against women in the state.
After the walk ended, a meeting was held in CDPO office where one participant Renaki Pulu, a local women activist brought the attention of the organizer on lack of awareness on women’s rights among the victims. She emphasized on the department for organizing workshops for capacity building and generating awareness on women’s rights issue.
Wakro, Oct 03: Coinciding the Gandhi Jayanti celebration, Er Lupalum Kri, SE, PH & WS flagged off the sanitation walk yesterday organized by Er Tayum Tok, EE, PH&WS, Namsai. Among others, students and staff of the Govt Secondary School, the Apnes and KGBV at Wakro took part in it.
Addressing the school children, teachers, staffs and members of Wakro Bazaar Er Lupalum exhorted the children to take up health and hygiene issues and vigorously campaign for sanitation in their homes and villages. The students can be the best agents to motivate family members and villagers on sanitation issues and encourage construction of toilets in every household. He pointed out that women face great hardship in lack of proper toilet facility in households and that the issue should not be neglected rather earnestly pursued by all. It may be mentioned that the state government, UNDP and Global Environment Facility (GEF) have decided to take up a collaborative project for conservation, cultivation and sustainable development of medicinal plants involving the community in seven identified medicinal plant conservation areas in the state.

Silver Jubilee Foundation day celebrated
ITANAGAR, Oct 03: The Youth Fellowship of Christian Revival Church (CRC) Naharlagun has celebrated its Silver Jubilee Foundation Day with befitting manner here on Tuesday. The celebration started on Monday with a theme ‘God’s solid foundation stands firm’.

Moderate earthquakes hits NE states
ITANAGAR, Oct 3: A series of earthquakes of moderate intensity measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale jolted Assam and other parts of the North East region, the met office said.
Three quakes shook Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Meghalaya between 12.07 am and 12.10 am today waking up people and making them to rush outdoors in panic for safety.
Another earthquake hit the region at 7.39 am.
The epicentre of the tremors was at Rangapara in central Assam's Sonitpur district on Latitude 26.9 degree north and Longitude 92.8 degree east at a depth of 35 km, the met office said. No casualty, injury or loss of property has been registered so far, but there are unofficial reports about minor cracks developing in several buildings in Sonitpur due to the tremor.

School fraternity mourns student’s death
ITANAGAR, Oct 03: The teachers, management committee and students of government middle school Mani Doimukh today deeply mourned the death of Hake Tanga, a class VIII student who was drowned in Pare (Dikrong) on 25th September last. Why not hunger strike instead of bandh ?
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention of the people of Arunachal as well as the associations, unions and other parties who declare bandh and strikes now and then.
Bandh and strikes does not only hamper the life of people but it slows down the economic growth of a particular area. The major and the immediate sufferers of bandh and strikes are the business men and the students. It can be seen that government officials generally enjoy the bandh and strikes while general public become the immediate sufferer.
Bandh is democratically correct if it is based on genuine reason. At the same time, it is morally wrong as the bandh generally cripples life of ordinary citizens who are not party to it.
Therefore, I would like to question the unions and associations, why they do not go for hunger strike instead bandh if their demands are really genuine. When there are many other options in hand to register protest and express grievances, whey they choose to call bandh ?

I would like to draw the kind attention of the Banderdewa Circle Intellectual Forum that the National Institute of Open Schooling has already declared its time table for Examination and it is conducting its Secondary and Sr. Secondary Examination from Oct 05 to 07 at various centers in Capital Complex.
Therefore it is my sincere request to the Forum to think for a while about the plight of the students who are going to appear the examination on Oct 05.
In addition to this, I on behalf of candidates and NIOS appeal the organization to show leniency and allow the candidates with proper ID Card and Hall Tickets to travel to the various examination centers for appearing the examination on 05/10/2012.
